Building a universal wheelchair camera mount for filmakers who sit on wheelchairs

The Need

The client who is a filmmaker, she sits on a wheelchair and always requires some sort of assistance when filming. They asked to build them a universal camera mount that would attach to her wheelchair easily and allow the client to fully develop her own film without asking for help fro external sources. The previous version was however hard for her to install on her own and was quite unstable when she would self propell on rough surfaces making it hard for her to take a steady picture or video

The Solution

Design an adjustable camera mount that is capable of 360 rotation around a point, a horizontal rotation of 180. It will be made up of scissor arm with a base that can rotate, this base will be attached to a riser to add height such that the camera will be at the user’s eye level.This mount will be clamped down securely with one or more tube clamps at a location where it does not impede the movement of the user, and will be rigid to minimize the movement of the camera while the wheelchair is moving.
